Because one day I will play an OC with Chloe Bennet's face. Or Daisy. We just don't know. ANYWAY - we will comment with characters and requests. Surprises are a-okay. Shenanigans shall ensue.

The world's ending.

It's the only thing that's on the news right now, and Buffy isn't entirely sure why she keeps turning on the TV, expecting to see something different, but she does. Every so often she clicks the button on the remote and in an instant she's clicking it back off again. She doesn't want to hear about how the world is ending. She doesn't want to think about how another place she's come to call home is going to be swallowed into a black hole of nothingness.

(At least this time around, it isn't her fault.)

Still, she carries on with business as usual. She gets up in the morning, goes to work, manages what few students actually bother to show up, and heads home at the end of the night again. She knows she should check in with friends, and make sure everyone has someone to go with when the world ends. (She should make sure she has someone to go with when the world ends.) But she doesn't, at least not yet. Whenever she thinks about who she would want there when it was all coming to an end, her thoughts inevitably drift back to Sam, and that's not something she's going to get back.

It's easier not to think about it. Even if she always finds herself thinking about it anyway.

This morning, however, was different. For one, she's waking up in the middle of somewhere very brightly lit. For another, it's so not her room at the Kashtta. For a third - she just very nearly got beaned in the head with a football. She's clearly batting a thousand with this particular rabbit hole - unless she's been kidnapped, in which case, someone is getting punched in the face.

All the same, she pushes herself into a sitting position and looks around at what must be a college campus of some kind. Which would be great - at least it's not some kind of primitive cage fighting world like the last time - except for the fact that she is barefoot in cupcake pajamas with no weapons to speak of.

She's also fairly certain there are twigs in her hair.

Really, this is A plus all around.

She sighs a bit as she pushes up onto her feet, one hand coming up to run her fingers through her tangled hair, while her eyes scan the scene for any sign of trouble. "I know the stupid things are acting up, but you'd think that they'd give up on the whole mini-adventure gig."

Nope. Never, Buffy. Though this adventure might not be as mini as you think.

HERE ARE THE RULES:

☆ give me a character. specify who you want in return and the verse, if at all possible, as that helps me narrow down ideas. if you absolutely have no preference, cracky rng will take care of it.

☆ the comment can be left blank. if you want to add a picture prompt, quote, or lyric, i encourage this. if not, that is okay, too! just be warned i will take cracky liberties with it. this is a post meant purely for fun.

☆ the characters threading for the duration of december and ongoing will either get: a mini-fanmix or a manip if it applies. if you would like icons of your character specifically, that can be arranged! just give me a zipped folder of screencaps that you would like made.

☆ BONUS ROUND: let me know if you are curious as to what my character would give yours for Christmas. if you would like to thread out this gift exchange, that can be arranged also! 'tis the season.

You do not have to pick all of these options. They are options a, b, c, and d respectively if you want to put it on the header. For example, if you'd rather have a fanmix made for two characters as opposed to everything else, it's fair game! If you just want a thread, that's fair game, too. If you want it all, absolutely acceptable. Go for it. SPECIFY AS NEEDED AND ALL WILL BE FUN. Hopefully.

Most of the time, Elena has to pinch herself to believe that she's actually here.

She still doesn't know how she got in. Her grades for her junior and senior year weren't exactly stellar, but she's trying not to question it too much. Questioning things in the past two years has never gotten her anything but trouble, and she wants Stanford to be a fresh start. A clean slate where she wouldn't have to worry about Klaus, vampires, werewolves or witches. She would just get to be Elena.

She really missed being Elena.

(However, even if she just wants to be Elena, that doesn't mean she forgets everything. She still gets an apartment off campus in her name, just in case.)

Right now, however, she's wandering the campus and getting used to her surroundings. Everything about this is amazing and larger than life. It's not Mystic Falls, and there's a part of that that's completely terrifying, but also exhilarating. She's not little Elena Gilbert, the girl who lost her parents and nearly everyone else she's ever loved. She's just Elena Gilbert, freshman English major at Stanford University.

This could actually be fun.

Provided she doesn't kill someone by colliding with them on her first day. That's what she gets for looking up.

[ Elena hasn't stopped longing for the possibility of going back home.

Along with the longing and that pang in her chest whenever she thinks of it is near-frightening determination. She doesn't accept things easily, if at all, and letting go isn't something she's truly able to do. Not unless she has absolutely no other choice. The world she comes from wasn't a picnic party, but it wasn't practically a Third World nation. More over, she was responsible for so many things that happened.

She couldn't leave everyone she loved behind, Klaus reigning terror down on them in her absence. She doesn't let herself think about it too often, or she wouldn't be able to attempt adjusting here as best she can. Life doesn't stop, and even if she hasn't fully accepted her fate, she has to be doing things so she doesn't lose her mind.

Per Alec's suggestion, she ends up working at Jam Pony. She's hired on the spot, but today ended up being a disaster. Once her shift ends, she's invited to join her co-workers for an after-shift drink. Or two or three or four of them. She doesn't really have a 'home' to go back to as it is, and Elena can't say the idea sounds terrible to her at the moment.

(Ask her again later tomorrow.)

She's at the bar, alternating between staring at her drink and staring at the pool table that was recently vacated.

She walks away, and she doesn’t look back. She doesn’t listen when Stefan pleads with her to get in the car, and she doesn’t take the easy way out to go with him in the car. She can barely even look at him right now, so she isn’t going to make things worse by trapping herself in a car with him, again.

She had been fighting for so long to save him, to believe that the part of him that she had fallen in love with is still there, and in five minutes, it is all thrown back in her face. She can’t give up on him, she won’t, but now she’s starting to wonder if what she thought was there, if what she thought this meant was ever really there at all. She’s eighteen years-old, and she knows that people say things always feel so much more intense when you’re a teenager, but she never realized that that also meant the bad as well.

She still wouldn’t give up on Stefan. She still would fight for him with everything that she had, because it’s the only thing she can do, but she isn’t sure if she can love him again. She isn’t sure if the person she fell in love with is ever coming back.

The tears are starting to dry sticky against her skin, and she knows that she should probably call someone to come get her. Wandering through the streets of Mystic Falls at night with all the hybrids around isn’t the smartest move. They probably wouldn’t kill her, given who she is to Klaus, but she isn’t sure that they’ll completely leave her alone either.

She couldn’t call Damon—given his feelings for her at the moment, she isn’t sure she could trust herself to be alone with him. Bonnie is mad at her, Alaric is probably drunk at this point—in fact, most people she knew were probably drunk at this point. Her fist closes around her phone in her pocket, and then releases it. She just needs to walk. She needs to get all her emotions out so that she can put on the brave face tomorrow, and go on saving Stefan as though nothing’s happened.

Damon has done worse to her and she’s still managed to forgive him. It wouldn’t be fair if she didn’t do the same for Stefan, who she actually loves.

So she just keeps walking. Eventually she’ll find her way home, but for right now, she’s alone on the side of the road, and needs to keep walking.

Sam Winchester is a nice boy.

Sam Winchester is also a weapon of mass destruction when it comes to Buffys the world over.

It’s the dimples. Sure, she could also toss in the fact that he genuinely is a nice boy. Such a nice boy, in fact, that he hasn’t even kissed her yet. Sure, there have been a few dates, and a few co-patrols, but every time they get that close—every time there is that moment where there could possibly be something—they pull back.

For once that ‘they’ is actually a mutual ‘they.’ Buffy doesn’t know what Sam has been through, but she isn’t the only one clearing her throat and backing away at the end of the night. She appreciates them taking things slow, but there are only so many moments a girl could miss before things officially stray into ‘too slow’ territory. And Buffy is starting to get there.

Now, however, isn’t the time to be considering that.

Now is the time to be dealing with a vampire.

They’re doing some more joint patrolling around Bete Noire, which never fails to turn up some kind of trouble. They’re in the graveyard somewhere near Spike’s crypt when the fang springs on them, and they go to town. Buffy is leading the charge, as per usual, and is trying to take him down, Slayer-style, but all it takes is one bad step, leading to her losing her footing. The vamp gets in one good punch and Buffy goes spinning backwards, looking to hit the ground.

What she actually does hit is much more comfortable.
